Siddhesh Lad Takes Pride in Mumbai Captaincy for Upcoming Ranji Trophy Season
Siddhesh Lad has been named the captain of Mumbai for the upcoming Ranji Trophy season, succeeding Shardul Thakur. Lad, who was the highest run-scorer for Mumbai in the previous season, expressed his pride in this new role, especially after the recent birth of his son, Shiva.
The decision to appoint Lad as captain aims to alleviate the workload on Thakur, who remains a key player for the team. Lad has previously captained Mumbai in six matches and is eager to lead the team throughout the season.
Despite the captaincy change, Lad maintains a strong relationship with Thakur, who has been a mentor to him. Currently, Lad is focused on his recovery from a shoulder injury sustained during the T20 Mumbai final in June, with hopes of being fit for the season opener against Chandigarh.
