Singapore Police Investigate Assault on Elderly Man After Incident at Food Court
Singapore police are currently investigating an assault involving a 73-year-old man who was thrown to the ground after he patted a young girl on the head at a food court. The incident occurred on Saturday and was captured on security cameras, leading to widespread outrage online.
A man, believed to be the girl's father, confronted the elderly man after the gesture, which seemed to agitate him. Following a heated exchange, the younger man allegedly threw the elderly man to the ground. The police have identified a 40-year-old suspect in connection with the incident.
In a social media post, the elderly man's son shared that his father, who has prior leg and hip injuries, did not wish to pursue the matter legally despite suffering from severe back pain after the fall. The post also mentioned that the younger man later apologized and offered a drink, but the family emphasized that this gesture did not alleviate the physical pain caused by the incident.
