Siniakova and Townsend Claim Women's Doubles Title at US Open 2026
Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend triumphed in the women's doubles at the US Open, achieving a historic career doubles Grand Slam as a team.
The top-seeded duo overcame a set deficit to defeat American wildcards Ashlyn Krueger and Robin Montgomery with a score of 5-7, 6-0, 6-2 in New York.
This victory adds to their previous Grand Slam wins at Wimbledon in 2024, the Australian Open in 2025, and the French Open earlier this year. Siniakova's win marks her 12th Grand Slam doubles title, making her the first player to complete a career Slam with two different partners. Townsend, also 30, secured her first US Open doubles title after losing in last year's final.
Despite dropping the first set, Siniakova and Townsend dominated the second, winning 23 of 27 points, and maintained control in the final set to secure the match.
Siniakova is among only eight women in the Open era to have won at least 12 Grand Slam doubles titles, and could finish the season as the world number one in doubles, a feat she has achieved five times previously.
