Sinquefield Cup Round Two: Four Players Win with White
In the second round of the Sinquefield Cup, four players achieved victories with the white pieces, leading to a five-way tie for first place. Fabiano Caruana, who had been the sole leader after the opening round, drew his game against Anish Giri, allowing the other players to catch up.
Levon Aronian triumphed over Vincent Keymer, Wesley So defeated Jorden van Foreest, Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu won against Javokhir Sindarov, and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave claimed victory over Sam Sevian. All four winners joined Caruana at the top of the standings with 1½ points out of 2.
Keymer's match against Aronian was particularly notable, as he nearly secured a win but faltered in a critical moment. Meanwhile, Praggnanandhaa's victory marked a turnaround in their recent encounters, having lost to Sindarov in previous tournaments. Vachier-Lagrave's win was his first of the event, while So's victory over Van Foreest left the latter at the bottom of the standings.
