Skip Bertman, Legendary LSU Baseball Coach, Passes Away at 88

Skip Bertman, the former head coach of LSU baseball, passed away on Friday in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, at the age of 88. His death was attributed to heart-related issues following a brief hospitalization.

Bertman coached the Tigers from 1984 to 2001, securing five national titles during his tenure. He was recognized as a significant figure in college baseball, leading LSU to College World Series victories in 1991, 1993, 1996, 1997, and 2000. His coaching career also included producing 41 Major League Baseball players.

In addition to his coaching achievements, Bertman served as LSU's athletic director and was instrumental in developing a championship culture within the program. He is survived by his three daughters and four grandchildren, and his legacy includes numerous accolades, including induction into several sports halls of fame.
