Mandhana, who has been part of the Indian team since 2013, has previously captained in T20Is and ODIs. Her leadership experience includes guiding Royal Challengers Bengaluru to Women's Premier League titles. Kaur, who led the team since 2016, stepped down after a successful tenure that included winning the 2025 ODI World Cup and securing consecutive Asian Games gold medals.
