Following UFC Shanghai, Song Yadong addressed the altercation with Usman Nurmagomedov that occurred after his knockout of Umar Nurmagomedov. Yadong expressed no hard feelings towards Usman, acknowledging that he understands the emotional response after witnessing his brother's defeat.

Yadong knocked out Umar in the second round, which led to Usman jumping into the Octagon. As Yadong celebrated, Usman appeared to make a defensive motion, but no contact was made. Yadong emphasized that there was no personal animosity between them, noting their friendly interactions during training.

Despite the chaos, Yadong admitted to landing additional strikes on Umar after he was already down, which he recognized could have provoked Usman's reaction. Both fighters, along with commentator Daniel Cormier, have downplayed the incident, with Cormier stating that Usman was merely trying to reach his brother rather than attack Yadong.
