Sonny Gray Leads Red Sox to 4-0 Victory Over Pirates
On Saturday night, Sonny Gray delivered a stellar performance, throwing seven scoreless innings to help the Boston Red Sox secure a 4-0 shutout against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Gray, who improved his record to 15-3, struck out seven batters and issued one walk while throwing 86 pitches. Wilyer Abreu's solo home run in the second inning marked the game's first run, contributing to the Red Sox's second win in three games after a five-game losing streak.
Abreu also added two doubles, while Jarren Duran and Andruw Monasterio drove in additional runs later in the game. The Pirates struggled offensively, managing only six hits, all singles, and leaving five runners on base. This loss further diminished Pittsburgh's playoff aspirations, marking their 13th shutout of the season.
