Spencer Rattler to Start for Saints in Preseason Opener

Spencer Rattler has been named the starting quarterback for the New Orleans Saints as they prepare to face the Jacksonville Jaguars in their preseason opener on Saturday.

Head coach Kellen Moore announced this decision, indicating that the team has a strategy in place to assess their quarterbacks. Tyler Shough, the current starter, will not participate in the game due to the extensive practice time he and the first-team offense had against Jacksonville earlier in the week.

Moore noted that those joint practices provided valuable game-like experiences, which the coaching staff deemed more beneficial than the preseason game itself. Consequently, many regular players are expected to sit out, allowing Rattler and other reserves the opportunity to showcase their skills ahead of the regular season.
