Sreejesh Calls for Improved Coordination in Indian Hockey Defense

Sreejesh, the former captain and goalkeeper of the Indian hockey team, has stressed the importance of enhanced defensive coordination ahead of the Asian Games, where Olympic qualification is at stake. With only four weeks since India's World Cup exit, he noted that the team faces a tight timeline to address its issues.

Sreejesh pointed out that the team's defensive struggles stem from structural gaps and a shift in tactical approach. He indicated that the current deep marking system requires better communication among players, which has not yet been fully achieved. This is particularly crucial when facing opponents skilled in individual play.

He recalled the 2018 qualifiers, where India missed a direct Olympic spot but later secured a bronze medal at the Tokyo Games.
