Sreeshankar Murali, a long jumper, has made a significant comeback after a serious knee injury that threatened his career. His father, S Murali, compared the challenges faced by his son to preparing for both the IIT and Civil Services exams simultaneously.
Currently training near Prague, Sreeshankar is focusing on strength and conditioning as he prepares for upcoming competitions, including the World Athletics Continental Tour in Bhubaneswar and the Asian Games in Japan. His training regimen is designed to protect his knee, which was severely injured just months before the 2024 Paris Olympics.
After a lengthy recovery period, Sreeshankar recently won a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, achieving a best jump of 8.09m despite adverse weather conditions. His father expressed immense pride in this achievement, highlighting the mental toughness required for such a comeback.
