St Helens Chairman Advocates for NRL and Super League Collaboration
Eamonn McManus, chairman of St Helens, has called for collaboration between the NRL and Super League to foster the growth of rugby league worldwide. He believes that both organizations should work together rather than compete against each other.
Recently, Super League received an investment proposal from the Australian Rugby League Commission aimed at increasing revenue for the European competition. McManus criticized the approach taken in discussions, suggesting that the NRL should not view Super League as a struggling entity to be taken over.
He pointed out that while Australia has achieved significant success in rugby league, the sport in Europe has untapped potential. McManus expressed optimism about the future of rugby league in Europe and stressed the importance of a partnership that benefits both sides. Additionally, he noted the appointment of Kevin Walters as St Helens' new head coach as a promising development for the club.
