St Helens Hosts International Glass Festival for the First Time
St Helens is currently hosting the International Festival of Glass, marking the first time the Merseyside town has held this event, which coincides with the 200th anniversary of Pilkington glass manufacturer.
The festival showcases the work of more than 80 glass artists from 23 countries, featuring exhibitions, demonstrations, and community events throughout the weekend at various locations.
Brandi Clark, from the Glass Art Society, emphasized the festival's role in celebrating the art form and St Helens' glass heritage. The event also provides opportunities for students and emerging artists to connect with industry professionals. Sarah Taylor, executive director of The World of Glass, noted the festival's significance following the museum's near closure last year, highlighting the town's ongoing legacy in glass-making.
