St Kilda's Plan to Reunite De Koning Brothers Amid Trade Speculation
St Kilda is considering the possibility of reuniting the De Koning brothers at Moorabbin if ruckman Rowan Marshall leaves the club. The Saints brought Tom De Koning on board last year, which stirred interest as Marshall sought a move to Geelong.
Although Marshall is under contract, St Kilda appears more amenable to a trade this time, especially with Geelong showing renewed interest in him along with free agents Zak Butters and Toby Greene. Geelong has been in search of a genuine ruckman, having relied on makeshift players for years.
The younger De Koning has made a name for himself as a top defender, contributing to Geelong's 2022 premiership and also demonstrating versatility by playing in the ruck. Discussions have emerged about a potential trade involving Marshall and De Koning, with analysts suggesting that such a swap could benefit both teams.
