State College Neighborhood Association Seeks Forum After Fraternity Cocaine Bust
The president of the Highlands Civic Association in State College has called for a public forum involving Penn State and local officials to address concerns regarding a cocaine trafficking operation allegedly linked to two fraternity houses. This request follows the arrest of 14 individuals, including 13 current or former Penn State students, accused of participating in the operation.
Mark Huncik, the association's president, emphasized the need for community dialogue during a borough council meeting. He highlighted the proximity of the fraternity houses to local families and residents, raising safety concerns. The investigation revealed that the operation involved cocaine being transported from Philadelphia and New York to the Delta Upsilon and Sigma Chi houses.
Charges have been filed against several individuals, including Agostino S. Abbatiello, who is alleged to be the ringleader. The university has placed Delta Upsilon on interim suspension while investigations continue. Penn State officials have expressed their commitment to working with the community and law enforcement to address these issues.
