Steele Sidebottom Signs with Wonthaggi Power for 2027 Season
Steele Sidebottom will continue his football career by joining Wonthaggi Power in the Gippsland League for the 2027 season after retiring from Collingwood and the AFL at the end of 2026.
During his time with Collingwood, Sidebottom played 370 senior games, winning two premierships and receiving multiple accolades including two Copeland Trophies and an All-Australian selection. He will reunite with former teammate Jarryd Blair at Wonthaggi, where Blair has been playing since 2021.
A club statement emphasized that Sidebottom's decision to join Wonthaggi was motivated by friendship and family ties rather than his past achievements. He has been friends with Blair and another club member, Tristan Francis, for many years. Sidebottom and his family are eager to integrate into the club's community and continue his involvement in junior development, which he has supported since 2014.
