Stephanie White Defends Players Amid Criticism Following Game Incident

Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White faced backlash for her lack of defense for guard Sophie Cunningham following a 90-86 victory over the Chicago Sky. In response to the criticism, White delivered a passionate message on Tuesday.

During the game, Sky guard DiJonai Carrington was ejected for a flagrant 2 foul after knocking Cunningham down while she attempted a layup. Indiana Lieutenant Governor Micah Beckwith called for White's dismissal, claiming she did not believe Carrington targeted Cunningham's neck. However, White later described the incident as 'egregious' after reviewing the footage.

White expressed her commitment to her players, condemning the negativity directed at her and the team. Despite facing boos from fans at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, she received support from Fever guard Caitlin Clark and team president Kelly Krauskopf, who praised White's leadership as the Fever aim for a playoff position with a current record of 21-12.
