Stephen Fleming Advocates for English Coach for National Team
Stephen Fleming, who was appointed as the head coach of England's Test cricket team in July, has expressed his belief that the national team should ideally be led by someone from England. He is set to begin his tenure with a series in South Africa in December.
Fleming noted that since 1999, only two English coaches have led the Test side, while several overseas coaches have taken the role. His coaching staff includes former England players, highlighting a focus on developing homegrown talent.
Fleming aims to foster the growth of English coaches during his time in charge and plans to engage with county coaches and former players. He has also shown a commitment to understanding the domestic game, having visited various counties and expressing his intention to observe county cricket next summer.
