Stephen Ross Sells Minority Stake in Dolphins at Record Valuation
Stephen Ross, owner of the Miami Dolphins, has finalized a deal to sell a 2.1% ownership stake in the team to Chilean billionaire Jean Eric Salata, achieving a valuation of slightly more than $12.5 billion. This transaction sets a new record for minority ownership stakes in NFL franchises.
Salata, who has an estimated net worth of $8.4 billion, chairs the Swedish investment firm EQT AB. His investment extends beyond the Dolphins to include minority interests in various properties associated with Ross, such as Hard Rock Stadium and the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix.
The valuation reflects a significant increase from previous transactions, highlighting the growing demand for NFL ownership opportunities. Despite the Dolphins' struggles on the field, the franchise's financial value continues to rise, demonstrating the lucrative nature of NFL investments.
