Sterling Spencer Critiques the US Open in Latest Podcast
In a recent episode of his podcast, Sterling Spencer shared his critical perspective on the US Open of Surfing, labeling it as boring and unimportant within the competitive surfing scene.
Spencer highlighted the poor wave conditions and the host city's lack of appeal, stating that the most memorable event in its history was a riot. He conducted a poll among his listeners, asking whether watching foil boarders or the US Open was more tedious, with 53 percent of the 14,000 respondents finding foiling harder to watch.
Spencer further criticized the event's wave quality, comparing it to foil boarding and noting that the excitement of past legendary heats was due to the proximity of spectators to the action, rather than the quality of the waves.
