Stetson Bennett to Start for Rams Against Chiefs
Stetson Bennett has been named the starting quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams in their preseason opener against the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday. This decision was confirmed by head coach Sean McVay during a press conference on Thursday.
Bennett, who was selected in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, is expected to serve as the backup to Matthew Stafford this season. He has yet to play in a regular-season game but had a strong preseason last year, completing 69 percent of his passes for 512 yards, five touchdowns, and two interceptions, resulting in a passer rating of 105.7.
Rookie quarterback Ty Simpson will make his preseason debut after Bennett. The Rams also have another rookie, Matthew Caldwell, on their quarterback roster. Under McVay, the Rams have typically not played their starters during the preseason.
