Steve Ballmer Accepts NBA Penalties for Clippers' Role in Kawhi Leonard Saga

Steve Ballmer has accepted the NBA's penalties related to the Los Angeles Clippers' involvement in the Kawhi Leonard contract situation. The NBA announced the sanctions on September 3, which include a one-year suspension for Ballmer, a $30 million fine for the team, and the forfeiture of five first-round draft picks.

In addition to the team's penalties, Kawhi Leonard was fined $700,000, while Lawrence Frank, the president of basketball operations, received a six-month ban, and Gillian Zucker, the team president of business operations, was suspended for one year. Following the ruling, the Toronto Raptors are awaiting the finalization of a trade for Leonard, which was paused during the NBA's investigation.

In a statement, Ballmer expressed his regrets and apologized to fans and team employees, confirming the team's compliance with the imposed penalties. He emphasized a desire to move forward, despite previous strong objections from the Clippers regarding the NBA's findings, which they claimed stemmed from a biased investigation.
