Steve Cohen Discusses Andy Green's Future with Mets
New York Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns announced that interim manager Andy Green is expected to return to the front office and will not pursue the full-time managerial position until after the 2026 season concludes.
During a press conference, Mets owner Steve Cohen mentioned that Green could be considered for the managerial role if he decides to express interest in interviewing later this fall. Green took over as interim manager after the dismissal of Carlos Mendoza and led the team to a 10-4 record from August 4 to August 18.
Cohen emphasized his commitment to Stearns, who is under contract until 2028, and stated that the search for a new manager will be Stearns' responsibility. He expressed a desire for a manager who can effectively connect with players and motivate them through the ups and downs of the season. The decision on Green's potential candidacy remains uncertain as the Mets approach their final game on September 27.
