Steve Sarkisian's Halftime Snub of ESPN Reporter Sparks Controversy
During a recent game at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, Texas, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian declined to participate in a halftime interview with ESPN's Laura Rutledge while his team was down 20-3.
Rutledge noted that Sarkisian had been patient during technical difficulties but ultimately chose to leave. Following the game, she stated that ESPN should apologize to Sarkisian instead of the other way around. In a separate incident, after the Longhorns made a remarkable comeback to win 24-23 against Ohio State, Sarkisian interrupted another ESPN reporter, Holly Rowe, as she attempted to interview him.
Rowe appeared visibly frustrated as Sarkisian turned away, shouting a cheer for Texas before heading back to the locker room. The coach's actions have led to speculation about his feelings towards the media, especially after his earlier encounter with Rutledge.
