Steve Wilks Expands Role with Commanders to Include Game Days
The Commanders have appointed veteran defensive coach Steve Wilks to take on additional responsibilities, including joining the coaching staff during games starting with the upcoming match against the Eagles.
Wilks was initially brought on to assist with game-planning after the team's Week 6 loss to the 49ers. His expanded role comes before he has even participated in a game under the previous arrangement.
Currently serving as a special assistant at Appalachian State, Wilks has a diverse coaching background, including a stint as head coach for the Cardinals in 2018 and defensive coordinator roles with the Panthers, Browns, 49ers, and Jets. His experience adds depth to the Commanders' coaching staff, particularly under head coach Dan Quinn, who has also recently hired Daronte Jones as the defensive coordinator.
