Stewart Friesen Secures Championship Despite Richmond Setback
After the Richmond race, much of the focus was on Kyle Larson, who won his fourth Knoxville Nationals title. Larson led all 50 laps in the A-Main feature, earning a $200,000 prize.
Stewart Friesen, who faced a DNF at Richmond, also aimed for a championship and flew to Fonda Speedway in New York. Starting from 22nd position, he finished fourth, which was sufficient to secure the Big-Block Modified championship.
Friesen won seven out of 14 races during the season, finishing with 736 points. His wife, Jessica, finished second in the race at Fonda and fourth overall in the championship standings. Despite his success, Friesen's earlier crash at Richmond has left him outside the playoff cutline, now sitting 11th in the standings, 20 points behind the final playoff spot with one race remaining.
