Stourbridge Golf Club Devastated by Fire, Faces $1 Million Rebuild
Stourbridge Golf Club suffered extensive damage from a fire on August 13, leaving only six holes intact and necessitating over a million dollars for full restoration.
The fire, which occurred on Racecourse Lane, resulted in the destruction of hundreds of trees, 600 meters of hedgerow, and a storage building. In total, 19 homes were destroyed and 18 others were damaged, with more than 100 firefighters responding to contain the blaze across 500 acres.
Despite the devastation, club chairman Simon Markey expressed optimism about the future, noting the support received from emergency services, neighbors, and other golf clubs. The club is set to reopen on Saturday, as they begin to assess the rebuilding process.
