Sunderland Faces Torreense in Historic European Match

Sunderland is set to play Torreense in Leiria, marking their first European competition match in over five decades. The game will take place on Thursday, October 15, at 5:45 PM BST at the Estádio Dr. Magalhães Pessoa.

This match comes after Sunderland's recent victory against AZ Alkmaar, where they won 1-0. However, their domestic performance has been challenging, with four losses in their first six Premier League games. They have struggled on the road, failing to secure an away win this season and conceding 16 goals in their last eight away matches.

Torreense, a team from the Portuguese second tier, is making waves after qualifying for Europe for the first time in their history. They achieved this by defeating Sporting CP in the Taça de Portugal final. Despite their underdog status, they won their opening Europa League match against Lillestrøm. However, they currently sit 15th in their league, with only one win from seven games.
