Sunderland Secures £25.6m Transfer for Dayann Methalie

Sunderland has reached an agreement to sign left-back Dayann Methalie from Toulouse for a total fee of £25.6 million.

The 20-year-old French defender is set to undergo a medical following a verbal agreement that includes an initial payment of £23.9 million, with an additional £1.7 million in potential add-ons. Last season, Methalie made 28 appearances in Ligue 1, scoring twice in his last three matches.

This transfer comes as Sunderland prepares for their Premier League campaign, starting next Saturday against Ipswich Town, and marks their first European competition in 53 years. The club is looking to bolster its squad, with Thomas Meunier being the only completed transfer so far this window.
