Sunil Gavaskar Advocates for Expanded Role of BCCI's Cricket Advisory Committee
Sunil Gavaskar has urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to reconsider the function of its Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), advocating for a broader mandate that includes insights from renowned former cricketers. His comments follow criticism of the East Zone's strategy during the Duleep Trophy final.
Gavaskar expressed that the CAC, which currently focuses on selecting coaches and national selectors, should also address domestic and international scheduling. He highlighted the need for the committee to leverage the expertise of celebrated players such as Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and Sourav Ganguly.
He noted that the CAC's existing appointments date back to 2022, and there is uncertainty regarding its current status. Gavaskar believes that enhancing the committee's role could significantly benefit the future of Indian cricket.
