Suns Face Frustration Over Point Guard Situation
The Phoenix Suns are currently facing challenges as they start the season with a 1-2 record, leading to concerns among players regarding the lack of a traditional point guard to manage the offense.
Chris Haynes reported that the team's starting lineup, which includes Devin Booker, Jalen Green, and Dillon Brooks, lacks a true point guard to facilitate playmaking. Booker has taken on the role of the primary playmaker, averaging 5.3 assists per game this season, but this has affected his scoring efficiency.
Collin Gillespie is the closest player to a traditional point guard on the roster, ranking second in assists, but he is not part of the starting five when Booker and Green are available. The Suns rank in the bottom half of the league in assists, and while they have an open roster spot, there are no current plans to address the point guard issue. Additionally, the team is struggling with three-point shooting and rebounding, particularly with starting center Mark Williams sidelined due to injury.
