Swansea City Prepared for New Season, Says CEO Tom Gorringe
Tom Gorringe, the chief executive of Swansea City, has stated that the club is ready for the new season with the right foundations established for the first time since his arrival 18 months ago.
Swansea will kick off their 2026-27 campaign with an EFL Cup match against Birmingham City on Saturday, followed by their ninth consecutive Championship season starting at Stoke City the following weekend. Gorringe, who joined Swansea as chief operating officer in February 2025 and was promoted to CEO shortly after, believes the club is on track to compete for a return to the Premier League.
Reflecting on his initial experience with the club, Gorringe noted the atmosphere during a match against Sheffield Wednesday in February 2025, which highlighted the challenges the team faced. Under his leadership, Swansea finished 11th in the previous season after a turnaround in form, and the club has made significant changes, including appointing a new sporting director and being active in the transfer market.
