Sydney Swans Address Police Investigation and Player Suspensions
The Sydney Swans Football Club has issued a statement regarding the ongoing police investigation into an alleged sexual assault that reportedly took place at the Pullman Hotel in Melbourne. The five players involved, Isaac Heeney, Nick Blakey, Chad Warner, Riley Bice, and James Jordon, have not yet spoken with police.
The club confirmed that no charges have been filed and emphasized that none of its staff are implicated in the investigation. The Swans reiterated that the players have not been interviewed by detectives at this point.
Victorian Police are actively investigating the incident, which occurred on August 17, and have stated that they are still determining the exact circumstances. The players have been suspended for the remainder of the season due to violations of the club's professional conduct standards, which included late-night drinking and unprofessional behavior, rather than any direct connection to the police inquiry.
