T. Vijay Aims to Prove Off-Spinners Can Succeed in Tests and T20s

T. Vijay, a 25-year-old off-spinner from Tekkali, Andhra Pradesh, is determined to demonstrate that off-spinners can excel in both Test and T20 formats. His cricketing journey began on a single cement pitch, where he had limited exposure to the game until he joined an academy in Vizianagaram.

At the academy, Vijay learned about various aspects of cricket, including strength training and fitness, which enhanced his skills. Over four years in senior cricket, he has played 19 First Class matches, taking 65 wickets, and has also participated in List A and T20 matches. His performances have caught the attention of selectors, leading to his IPL debut in 2026 with Delhi Capitals and a call-up for India-A.

Vijay acknowledges the challenges faced by traditional off-spinners in modern cricket but remains motivated to prove their worth. He aims to show that off-spinners can thrive in all formats, continuing to work hard to achieve his goals.
