Tadej Pogacar to Miss Remainder of Season Due to Injuries

Tadej Pogacar, a five-time Tour de France champion, has announced that he will not race for the remainder of the season after sustaining injuries at the Vuelta a Espana.

The Slovenian cyclist suffered a neck fracture, a broken collarbone, a concussion, and multiple abrasions during a crash on the eighth stage of the race. This incident occurred while he was leading the competition, and as a result, he will miss the upcoming World Championships where he was set to defend his title.

Pogacar expressed disappointment over the abrupt end to his season but emphasized the importance of recovery. He plans to support his team from home and aims to return to competition next year. Additionally, UAE Team Emirates-XRG confirmed that Pogacar has extended his contract until 2032.
