The Tahiti Pro is set to commence its competition window on August 8, featuring a significant swell for its opening weekend. While wave size is anticipated to be adequate, forecasters have indicated that wind conditions may complicate the event.

On Friday, a warmup session for Championship Tour athletes showcased the incoming swell, which is expected to peak overnight into Saturday. However, the winds are aligning with predictions, potentially impacting the competition.

This event is crucial for the world title race, being the seventh of twelve stops on the schedule. The World Surf League's new postseason format will soon come into play, with only a few events remaining before the field narrows to 24 men and 16 women. WSL CEO Ryan Crosby emphasized the league's commitment to evolving the sport while honoring its legacy as it approaches its 50th anniversary.
