Taiwanese Boxer Lin Yu-ting Continues Fighting After Considering Retirement
Taipei – Lin Yu-ting, a Taiwanese boxer and Olympic gold medalist, revealed that she thought about retiring after her success at the Paris Olympics. However, she decided to keep competing, partly to challenge those who questioned her eligibility.
Lin, along with Algerian boxer Imane Khelif, became embroiled in a significant gender controversy during the 2024 Games. Both athletes were disqualified from the 2023 world championships by the International Boxing Association (IBA) due to failing unspecified gender eligibility tests.
This situation has attracted attention from various public figures, including Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and author J.K. Rowling, highlighting the ongoing debates surrounding gender and sports.
