Tampa Bay Rays Confirm Shane McClanahan Out for Postseason
The Tampa Bay Rays will not have Shane McClanahan available for the postseason as they aim for their first World Series title. Reports indicate that McClanahan has been sidelined after being placed on the Injured List due to left forearm tightness, which has kept him off the mound since September 3.
McClanahan has a history of injuries, having missed the previous two seasons because of Tommy John surgery and a nerve issue in his left triceps. In the 2026 season, he posted a 3.36 ERA and a 1.119 WHIP over 118 innings, striking out 106 batters.
Although he has been able to play catch since late September, he will not have sufficient time to return to game readiness. The Rays are optimistic about his recovery for spring training. As they prepare for the ALCS against the Guardians, the team will rely on their remaining strong rotation, including Drew Rasmussen and Nick Martinez, while considering a bullpen game for their fourth starter.
