Tarik Skubal Discusses Fastball Evolution After Trade to Dodgers

Tarik Skubal recently shared his insights on the evolution of fastball pitching after being traded from the Detroit Tigers to the Los Angeles Dodgers. He emphasized the increasing trend of pitchers utilizing multiple fastball variations, noting that many now throw two or even three types of fastballs, such as cutters, sinkers, and four-seamers.

Skubal highlighted that having different fastball types can complicate matters for hitters, who are adept at handling single fastball types. This season, he has thrown his four-seamer 36.5% of the time and his sinker 19.8%. He believes that the effectiveness of his pitches is enhanced by their differences, particularly how his sinker and changeup appear similar to hitters.
