Tarik Skubal Set to Debut for Dodgers Against Cubs
Tarik Skubal is scheduled to make his debut for the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday, facing the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. This announcement was made by Andrew Friedman, the president of baseball operations, on Sunday.
Skubal's start comes after he had only one extra day of rest since his last appearance with the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday. The trade that brought him to the Dodgers was confirmed on Sunday morning, following reports that he was acquired late Saturday night in exchange for prospects Zyhir Hope, River Ryan, and Brady Smith.
The trade occurred during the Tigers' game against the Athletics, which left them 2.5 games behind the final American League wild-card spot. Skubal, who has a 2.79 ERA this season, previously underwent surgery on his elbow in May but returned to the mound in June. He is in his final arbitration year, earning a record $32 million, and is expected to be a highly sought-after free agent in the upcoming offseason.
