Tasmania Devils Explain Decision to Part Ways with Captain Robbie Fox
The Tasmania Devils have confirmed their decision to release VFL captain Robbie Fox, stating that his departure was not the result of a specific incident. The club chose not to offer Fox a contract for 2027, citing unmet expectations regarding player behavior and adherence to club standards.
Reports indicate that an incident occurred at the Granada Tavern in Hobart, where Fox was removed for being drunk and disorderly, with a bottle reportedly thrown and broken. However, there were no injuries or police involvement.
Chief marketing officer Kath McCann emphasized that the decision was not based on one particular event and requested respect for the privacy of those involved. She acknowledged Fox's contributions during the club's inaugural year and confirmed he would remain with the organization as Strategic Projects Lead, while also noting that he could potentially sign with SFL club Lauderdale next year.
