Teddy Bridgewater Retires, Placed on Lions' Reserved List

Teddy Bridgewater has officially retired from football and has been placed on the reserved/retired list by the Detroit Lions. This announcement was made by head coach Dan Campbell on Sunday.

Bridgewater had missed practice on Thursday and Friday prior to the announcement. Campbell expressed his admiration for Bridgewater, highlighting his character and contributions as a teammate.

Bridgewater, who served as the Lions' backup quarterback during the 2023 season, had previously announced his retirement before returning to the team late in the 2024 season. Over his career, he played for seven NFL teams and appeared in 83 games, achieving notable statistics including 15,182 passing yards and 75 touchdowns. The Lions currently have two quarterbacks on their roster and plan to sign a veteran backup soon.
