Tennessee Selects Faizon Brandon as Starting Quarterback for 2026 Season
Tennessee has appointed freshman Faizon Brandon as its starting quarterback ahead of the 2026 season, confirmed sources. This decision comes less than two weeks before their opening game against Furman.
Brandon, a five-star recruit and the second-ranked quarterback in the 2026 signing class, secured the starting position after outperforming sophomore George MacIntyre during scrimmages. In high school, he led Grimsley (N.C.) to two consecutive state championships and achieved a remarkable 35-1 record as a starter, throwing 90 touchdowns against just 10 interceptions.
Brandon's first game will be against Furman on September 5, followed by a challenging matchup against Georgia Tech in Week 2. Tennessee's schedule includes several tough opponents, including No. 5 Texas, and the team will need Brandon to quickly adapt to the demands of SEC play. Fortunately, the Volunteers return a significant portion of their offensive lineup, including key players on the offensive line and skilled receivers, which may aid Brandon's transition into the starting role.
