Terry Rozier's Attorney Denounces Witness Tampering Allegations
An attorney representing former NBA player Terry Rozier has dismissed recent allegations from federal prosecutors regarding witness tampering by one of Rozier's co-defendants, Deniro Laster, as unfounded. The prosecutors have requested that a judge detain Laster, claiming he attempted to intimidate witnesses related to an insider trading case involving Rozier.
Rozier and Laster have both pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from an alleged scheme where Rozier is accused of intentionally removing himself from a March 2023 game to benefit gamblers. Although Rozier is not directly implicated in the latest allegations, his attorney has criticized the prosecutors for suggesting a connection to a criminal organization, asserting that GMB refers to a positive motto rather than any illicit activity.
Prosecutors allege that Laster used social media to intimidate potential witnesses and violated bond conditions by communicating with other defendants. Rozier's attorney has argued that the government's claims are exaggerated and that Rozier has never faced charges related to firearms or witness intimidation. A ruling on a motion to dismiss some of the charges against Rozier is pending.
