Texans Risk Late Jaguars Field Goal with End Zone Kickoff
In a recent NFL game in London, the Texans decided to kick off into the end zone with eight seconds remaining in the second quarter against the Jaguars. This decision mirrored a similar choice made by the Eagles the previous week, which also proved to be a mistake given the Jaguars' timeout situation.
Last week, the Jaguars had no timeouts, making it challenging for them to reach field-goal range. However, this week, with two timeouts available, the Jaguars were positioned to capitalize on the Texans' decision. A pass attempt from quarterback Trevor Lawrence to receiver Parker Washington fell incomplete at the Houston 46, which could have set up a long field goal attempt for kicker Cam Little.
Little has demonstrated the ability to make long kicks, having previously attempted a 70-yard field goal that narrowly missed. The Texans' choice to kick off allowed the Jaguars a chance to advance the ball, creating a risk of a game-tying field goal as the teams headed into halftime.
