Texas Tech Reloads for 2026 Season with New Transfers
Texas Tech is preparing for the 2026 college football season by significantly enhancing its roster through the transfer portal, following a successful campaign that included a conference championship and a playoff appearance in 2025.
The team, backed by billionaire Cody Campbell, has focused on strengthening its defensive line, which previously excelled under the leadership of David Bailey. Although Bailey has departed, Texas Tech secured the sixth-best transfer class nationally, bringing in 21 new players, including quarterback Will Hammond and several defensive talents.
Among the notable additions are edge defender Adam Trick and interior lineman Mateen Ibirogba, both of whom have impressive track records. Despite the loss of key players, Texas Tech aims to continue its upward trajectory in college football, having also attracted a strong recruiting class ranked 18th nationally.
