Thea Frodin Set for US Open Debut After Portraying Serena Williams
Thea Frodin, a teenager who portrayed a young Serena Williams in the film 'King Richard', is preparing for her main-draw singles debut at the US Open. This follows her success in reaching the final of the Wimbledon girls' doubles in 2025 alongside Julieta Pareja.
Frodin, who is currently ranked 580th in the world, earned a wildcard entry into the tournament after winning the USTA Girls' 18s National Championships. She has previously reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open girls' singles and made her qualifying debut on the WTA Tour in Miami.
In her first match, Frodin will face Elena Rybakina, the world number two and reigning Australian Open champion. Frodin expressed excitement about the opportunity and hopes to meet the Williams sisters during the tournament.
