Theo Pourchaire Returns to Full-Time Single-Seater Racing with Opel

Theo Pourchaire, aged 22, will return to full-time single-seater racing after signing with Opel for the upcoming 2026/27 Formula E season, which will introduce the new Gen4 car.

This marks Pourchaire's first complete campaign in single-seater racing since he secured the Formula 2 championship in 2023. Although he participated in several races, including six IndyCar events and a Super Formula race in 2024, these were not full-time commitments. His recent focus has been on sportscars, where he completed the 2025 European Le Mans Series and competed in the World Endurance Championship.

His transition to Formula E is influenced by his involvement with Peugeot in the WEC, as both Peugeot and Opel are part of the Stellantis group. Pourchaire has prior experience with Stellantis brands, having tested for Maserati and Citroen, and has also worked with the Mercedes Formula 1 team. He is expected to team up with Mitch Evans, who will join Opel after leaving Jaguar, while Sophia Florsch will take on a test and development role. The 2026/27 Formula E season is set to commence in Saudi Arabia on December 18-19.
