Thierry Neuville Wins on Circuit Racing Debut at Imola
Thierry Neuville, the 2024 World Rally Championship champion, celebrated a successful debut in circuit racing at the Imola Classic.
Neuville transitioned from rallying to compete in the Heritage Touring Car Cup, driving a Ford Escort RS1600 and his own BMW M3 E30. He shared the Escort with Raphael de Borman, and together they secured a class victory in the first one-hour race. However, Neuville had to retire from the second race due to a technical issue.
Despite his extensive experience in the WRC, Neuville has participated in circuit racing sporadically, including a win in a TCR Germany race in 2019. He expressed enjoyment of the Imola track and the event atmosphere, and he hopes to return for more appearances in the Le Mans Classic Series in 2027.
