Thomas Castellanos Regains Eligibility for Texas Tech After Court Ruling
Texas Tech quarterback Thomas Castellanos has regained his eligibility following an injunction granted by a Jefferson Circuit Court judge against the NCAA. He is set to participate in the upcoming game against Arizona State on Saturday.
Earlier in the season, Castellanos received a temporary restraining order that allowed him to extend his eligibility for a fifth year. However, a Kentucky judge recently lifted this order, rendering him ineligible just before Texas Tech's Week 5 victory over Colorado.
With Castellanos back, Texas Tech enhances its quarterback depth and mobility. Although he has only attempted four passes this season, he has rushed 10 times for 44 yards and two touchdowns. His presence could provide a strategic advantage against the Sun Devils, especially if starter Will Hammond continues to struggle, as he has faced challenges in previous games.
